The Benefits of Telehealth DUI Classes

Telehealth DUI Classes

The COVID-19 Pandemic forced an expansion in telehealth care. Virtual tools replaced traditional in-person care options thanks to the need to limit disease spread. DUI classes have and continue to benefit from the expansion of telehealth options. Let’s examine how online DUI classes differ from traditional ones and what benefits they can offer both counselors and clients.

3 Major Benefits of Online DUI Classes

Participation in a drug and alcohol education program is required when a judge suspends a DWI sentence in favor of a term of probation. Most first-time offenders who don’t have a DUI within the last seven years qualify for probationary periods.

In North Carolina, even the most minor DWI offense results in losing a driver’s license for one year. For many of our clients, this loss makes transportation to court-ordered drug and alcohol education a significant challenge.

Online DUI classes are a game changer. They encompass all the necessities and quality of traditional classes but with major benefits and solutions to common obstacles.

Benefit #1: Transportation Solutions

The transportation solution is the most impactful benefit of online DUI classes for our clients. It opens the door to unmatched accessibility. Our clients no longer have to worry about how they’ll get to one of our offices. Instead, we bring our offices to them.

The reality is that accessible transportation disproportionately affects people in poverty. Access to public transportation is more challenging to find in low-income areas. Ubers and taxis are an expense that low-income individuals and families cannot easily afford.

In today’s inflated economic climate, it’s harder than ever to find a friend or family member able to take time away from work or family to offer transportation. Imagine choosing between the cost of transportation to court-ordered classes that are required to regain your license, putting food on the table, or paying rent. Many of our clients struggle with these choices.

Online DUI classes make a recovery from a DWI offense equally accessible by slicing away the struggle of transportation to and from on-site courses.

For counselors, the benefit is equally useful. Our counselors can conduct sessions from anywhere, alleviating the need to commute to work. Travel time and expenses are cut.

Benefit #2: Cost Savings

Reducing or altogether eliminating transportation is cost savings, but there are more savings for online DUI classes. While court-mandated costs cannot be avoided, remote services allow lower costs when participating in a drug and alcohol education program.

For our clients, childcare presents an equally large challenge. It’s expensive and time restrictive. It also costs to commute to and from any available options. Remote services can be accessed from the comfort of the home. Children can play at home like usual while a parent attends an online DUI class.

Likewise, working from home can offer counselors a viable childcare solution.

Benefit #3: Flexibility

Our virtual classes give our clients total control over their experience. From start to finish, everything can run at their pace. As a client, you never have to feel rushed. You don’t need to cancel an appointment due to sickness, lack of transportation, or childcare. If you’re comfortable meeting, you can keep your appointment.

Counselors also benefit from the flexibility of online DUI classes. You may need to work off hours because of family needs or a personal situation. Chances are there’s a pocket of clients who will benefit from those off hours, too.

Life Happens

Our daily lives are evolving. Life happens to both our clients and our counselors. Online DUI classes offer a solid counterpart to traditional in-person services. It’s the change that increases accessibility, overcomes common obstacles, and even offers needed monetary savings.

If you’re struggling to meet the court-ordered requirements of drug and alcohol education, we can help you find a solution.
