Drug Abuse Prevention - Red Ribbon Week 2012

“The best me is drug free.”

This week is National Red Ribbon Week, a community-based campaign to prevent substance abuse sponsored by the National Family Partnership. Now through October 31, join us as we spread the word about drug prevention to encourage youth and young adults to live drug free.

HOW CAN I SHOW MY SUPPORT?

The National Red Ribbon Campaign runs through October 31st, so you still have time to show your support.

Take The Pledge. The Ribbon Campaign is a community-based initiative. Parents and adults can participate by signing a pledge to talk to their children about drugs. Visit RedRibbon.org/Pledge/ to take the pledge today.

Community Events. Most schools in the community are participating with activities to educate students on the risks of drug abuse. If you’re in North Carolina, The NC Parent Resource Center is giving away free toolboxes for local businesses and organizations to participate in the national campaign. Talk To Children and Young Adults About The Dangers of Substance Abuse. With so many influences from friends, television, movies and the media, it’s becoming more and ore important for parents, aunts, uncles, and older siblings to have tough conversations with the young people in our life. Talk to youth about the dangers and consequences of drug abuse as well as the rewards for choosing to live drug free. Do what it takes to be the positive influence in their life.

Purchase Red Ribbon Items. Proceeds from the sale of Red Ribbon theme merchandise helps support prevention programs across America. To order red ribbons and other items for your office, family or student, go to NIMCOInc.com, the online e-commerce store for drug prevention and awareness merchandise.
